Happy Accidents #081 - The 10 Day Serendipity Challenge
10 books left in 10 random locations
They say it’s always better to ‘show’ rather than ‘tell’.
This week’s edition of the Happy Accidents newsletter is doing just that.
Rather than ‘telling’ you a story about someone else who increased their luck surface area, I’m ‘showing’ you a fun new challenge I am doing to right now to increase mine (and hopefully countless other people as well).
I call it ‘The Serendipity Challenge’

I just left 10 copies of my book The Accidental Solopreneur in 10 random places around town.
And here’s why:
We all know success often comes from hard work and careful planning, but also... a little bit of luck.
In fact, I believe all success can be traced back to a happy accident in some way shape or form.
There’s a ton of power in serendipity—those fluke discoveries, chance encounters, and unintended events that change the course of our lives.
As you know from reading this newsletter, many of the greatest inventions and partnerships in history started with a happy accident!
These moments can't be planned…but they CAN be influenced.
By putting ourselves out there, by taking risks, we increase what I call our 'luck surface area.'
And I'm putting that belief to the test with this random ‘book drop’.
Each copy of the book has a note inside saying it was 'an accident' that is ended up in that person’s hand and encouraging them to read it and pass it on.
The goal of this little experiment?
To bless others with this book, maybe inspire them to bet on themselves, or perhaps they’ll pass it on to someone else who does.
And, let’s be honest, it’s also a fun way to increase my own luck surface area, too.
(see the video at the bottom of this newsletter to find out where I dropped the random books)
Who knows WHERE these books will end up, and WHO they’ll inspire along the way? That’s the beauty of serendipity—once you set things in motion, anything can happen.
I’m hoping the story doesn’t end here. What if one of these books ends up in the hands of someone who makes a life-changing decision?
What if it sparks a new business, a new partnership, or a new beginning? I just love a good Happy Accident story!
So, what’s your next move?
How are you going to increase your luck surface area today?
Remember, the smallest actions can lead to the biggest changes.
TOO LONG; DIDN’T READ (TL;DR)
I recently left 10 copies of my book The Accidental Solopreneur in random places around town to explore the power of serendipity.
By doing this, I aim to increase my 'luck surface area' and see where these books might end up and who they might inspire.
This experiment is about embracing the unexpected and encouraging others to take risks and bet on themselves. After all, you never know where a happy accident might lead!
